Ok, so Vox and The Hound are probably one of the BEST bands to come out of New Orleans. They remind me of old Westerns and their sound is absolutely EPIC. Their music is perfectly arranged and high energy and ugh…I could go on for hours about these guys.
Check out one of my favorite songs off their upcoming album, “Courage”.
Seriously, a Vox show is a straight up fucking dance party.

Here’s a link to their album release show at The House of Blues.

I need a place to have a little dinner party + a band play
in order to raise funds for my Race for the cure team.
I’ve contacted all my usual venues, but any one have any other ideas?
I can say, honestly that my 23rd year of life has been my best so far. I have realized ambitions and succeeded in places I never thought I would.
So here’s a little recap:
August-September 2011:
Join team Tranquilizer Records and Radio. Host a radio show that’s heard internationally and relatively successful. Also bought my first bicycle. Started hanging out with Bobby fucking awesome Reisinger.

(interviewing Enharmonic Souls backstage at The House of Blues NOLA)
October-November 2011:
Bobby agreed to be my cohost for “The Neutral Ground”. We kicked ass. Serious ass. Jill, the owner of Tranquilizer let us interview local artists at Voodoo Fest 2011. Dream come true. Also participated in first Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure with my mom and others on team Tutus for Tatas.

December 2011-January 2012
Another dream come true. I got to attend my first ever New Heart for Xmas. It’s a 2 day event in Chicago hosted by one of my favorite bands, Kill Hannah. As a joke through Twitter, I made lead singer Mat Devine a gift and got to meet the guy. Fucking rad. Met amazing people while in Chicago. New friends that I will NEVER forget. During that time, I come up with an idea for an awesome fundraiser during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

February 2012:
I put together a fundraiser to benefit TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms — suicide prevention). It will be at the Big Top, a local art non-profit and will feature 6 local bands. I end up getting interviewed by WTUL about the whole thing as well as write ups in local publications! We raised a ton of money!

April 2012:
A life-bettering road trip with my best friend to a place we had never been before (as well as constant hanging out and he even did the Crescent City Classic with me and put my ass to shame!) We wanted to go to the beach. But not the Gulf, as we’ve seen it too many times. I point to the end of I-10 East and say, “Let’s go there”.

July 2012:
Adventures of a lifetime. Jackson Hole, Wy and Grand Tetons National Park to visit my best friend on the planet. I cried when I saw her again for the first time. The week is filled with whiskey drinking and chain smoking in the gorgeous mountains. We take a fun (albeit unexpectedly dangerous) road trip to Salt Lake City to see old friends play an awesome show with Fitz and the Tantrums. 1 week after I get back from there, I left again for Chicago to visit those friends that were so awesome that I just couldn’t get enough. I found out later that my anxiety while I was there was caused by something growing inside of me (you can take that metaphorically or literally — I’m going to remain vague).

and today, my life is much better. My life feels more purposeful because of all these things. I know which direction I want to go in and I know that nothing can stop me because I have this drive and determination to prove to everyone that it is possible to do what you want and be happy and satisfied. I know now that I have a will of steel and if I want something, I will get it. With the help of my amazing and just as driven friends, my life has gone in an epic direction.
